Grande Prairie records 17 recoveries, 10 new cases over weekend

The City of Grande Prairie recorded ten new COVID-19 cases along with 17 recoveries from December 3-5, bringing the active case total in the Sawn City down to 55.

In the County Of Grande Prairie, there were four new cases and 13 recoveries identified bringing the total number of active cases in that region down to 63.

Across the province, Alberta added 788 new cases on the completion of 20,509 tests, resulting in a 3.8 per cent test positivity rate. There are 4,374 active cases in the province.

Active case totals, as of December 5 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 55 active (-7)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 63 active (-9)
  • MD of Greenview: 8 active (-1)
  • Birch Hills County: one active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: three active (-1)
  • Saddle Hills County: five active (-)
  • MD of Peace: seven active (-1)
  • MD of Fairview: one active (-)
  • MD of Smoky River: three active (-2)
  • Big Lakes County: eight active (-)
  • Clear Hills County: one active (-)
  • County of Northern Lights: six active (-3)
  • Northern Sunrise County: 5 active (+3)
  • Mackenzie County: 42 active (-6)

Across the province, hospitalizations dropped to 366, with 72 of those patients in the ICU. Of those in the hospital, 171 are unvaccinated, while in the ICU, 51 of the 72 patients are unvaccinated.

In the North Zone, 42 people are in hospital (down 16), four of whom are in the ICU (down two).

There were five new deaths reported as a result of COVID-19, bringing the province’s COVID-19 death toll to 3,263.

In Grande Prairie, 67.7 per cent of eligible Albertans (ages five and older) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 62.2 per cent of those residents have been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 89 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 84.4 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
