Grande Prairie adds six new COVID-19 cases, five recoveries

The City of Grande Prairie recorded six new COVID-19 cases along with five new cases for December 7, bringing the active case total in the Swan City up to 53.

In the County Of Grande Prairie, there were four new cases and four recoveries identified, there are 54 cases in that region.

Across the province, Alberta added 388 new cases on the completion of 10,700 tests, resulting in a 3.6 per cent test positivity rate. There are 4,140 active cases in the province.

Active case totals, as of December 7 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 53 active (+1)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 54 active (-)
  • MD of Greenview: six active (-1)
  • Birch Hills County: one active (-)
  • MD of Spirit River: three active (-)
  • Saddle Hills County: five active (-)
  • MD of Peace: 10 active (+4)
  • MD of Fairview: one active (-)
  • MD of Smoky River: three active (-)
  • Big Lakes County: eight active (-)
  • Clear Hills County: one active (-)
  • County of Northern Lights: four active (-)

Across the province, hospitalizations grew remained stable at 373, with 68 of those patients in the ICU. Of those in the hospital, 180 are unvaccinated, while in the ICU, 50 of the 68 patients are unvaccinated.

In the North Zone, 45 people are in hospital (up four), two of whom are in the ICU (down one).

There were four new deaths reported as a result of COVID-19, bringing the province’s COVID-19 death toll to 3,272.

In Grande Prairie, 67.9 per cent of those eligible (ages five and older) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 62.3 per cent of those residents have been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 89.1 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 84.5 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
