Grande Prairie records 16 COVID-19 recoveries, 14 new cases

The City of Grande Prairie recorded 14 new cases of COVID-19 along with 16 recoveries, from December 10-12, bringing the active case total in the Swan City down to 48.

In the County Of Grande Prairie, there was 11 new cases and 16 recoveries reported, bringing the active case total in that region to 35.

Over the weekend, Alberta added 863 new cases on the completion of 20,813 tests, resulting in a 4.1 per cent test positivity rate. There are 4,182 active cases in the province.

Active case totals, as of December 12 among Peace Region municipalities, are as follows:

• City of Grande Prairie: 48 active (-2)
• County of Grande Prairie: 35 active (-5)
• MD of Greenview: one active (-3)
• Birch Hills County: zero active (-1)
• MD of Spirit River: three active (-)
• Saddle Hills County: five active (-)
• MD of Peace: 11 active (+1)
• MD of Fairview: one active (-)
• MD of Smoky River: one active (-2)
• Big Lakes County: nine active (+2)
• Clear Hills County: one active (-)
• County of Northern Lights: three active (-1)
• Northern Sunrise County: five active (-)

Across the province, hospitalizations dropped to 357 (down ten), with 68 of those patients in the ICU (down three). Of those in the hospital, 166 are unvaccinated, while in the ICU, 49 of the 68 patients are unvaccinated.

In the North Zone, 43 people are in hospital (same), four of whom are in the ICU (same).

There were three deaths reported in Alberta over the weekend as a result of COVID-19, bringing the provinces COVID-19 death toll to 3,275.

In Grande Prairie, 68.3 per cent of those eligible (ages five and older) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 62.6 per cent of those residents have been fully vaccinated.

In Alberta, 89.2 per cent of eligible Albertans aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 84.8 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.
