Grande Prairie rental rates down year over year

Rentals.ca says it saw rental rates in Grande Prairie decline from this time last year.

The website says rent in Grande Prairie during November 2021 was down 14 per cent on a one-bedroom unit and down 1.6 per cent for a two-bedroom unit compared to 2020.

Grande Prairie also finished 34th out of 35 cities for average monthly rent in November 2021 for a one-bedroom home, which averaged $825 per month. It ranked 33rd for average monthly rent at $1,099 for two-bedroom units.

Across Alberta, Calgary had the highest rental rate, with one-bedroom units averaging $1,233 per month. Edmonton came in second in the province, with the average one-bedroom unit costing $1,023 for monthly rent.

Throughout Canada, rent mostly grew in 2022. Toronto saw rent go up 11 per cent, Vancouver saw a six per cent increase and Montreal had a five per cent increase.
