RCMP investigate carbon monoxide poisoning in Little Buffalo

Dec 28, 2021 | 10:48 PM

Peace Regional RCMP are investigating what is believed to be a carbon monoxide poisoning on Boxing Day, following the death of two residents in Little Buffalo.

On December 26, police say they attended a residence to confirm the wellbeing of the occupants.

Upon arrival, mounties say they found a 58-year-old female and a 64-year-old male, both reportedly unresponsive, not breathing, and no pulse.

While on scene, authorities say they began to feel dizzy and lightheaded.

The RCMP members allegedly exited the residence and contacted the Fire Department for assistance, which upon arrival, they identified a high level of carbon mononxide inside the home.

While police believe this to be an isolated incident, the RCMP encourages residents to familiarize themselves with the signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, which include:

  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • General Weakness
  • Chest Pain
  • Confusion

Mounties say they do not believe any foul play regarding this incident and the names of the deceased will not be released.

RCMP officers are encouraging residents to check their carbon monoxide detectors and confirm they are in good working order.
