Tickets on sale for 29th Rotary Dream Home Lottery December 31

Dec 29, 2021 | 1:28 PM

Tickets for the 29th annual Rotary Dream Home Lottery go on sale at noon on New Year’s Eve.

This year’s dream home is located in Taylor Estates and is being built by Monarch Homes.

The new state-of-the-art house is 4,988 square feet and features four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. It also is designed to showcase and create a modern feel while creating still creating warmth by using warm whites, wood tones, handmade tile and natural-looking stones.

Raffle Manager Melissa Coulombe says they are ready to continue off of last year’s success.

“It (the dream home) is valued at over $1.4 million. We will also have again our cash jackpot 50/50, which last year hit a record-breaking $700,000. We will also be bringing back the Cash Cow Calendar, where people can win up to $10,000 a day, weekdays in May.”

Coulombe adds buying a ticket helps various organizations in the community.

“The money raised from the Dream Home Lottery goes to various groups. So when you visit the home and you see people in the garage selling tickets, those are different groups throughout the Peace Region fundraising,” she said.

“It might be the Piranhas swim team or the Grande Prairie Skating Club, and they all get paid from funds raised by the dream home for the time they put into helping their organizations.”

Returning this year will also be in-person visitations to the dream home. In 2020, visits to the dream home were not allowed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“When people do visit the home this year, it will be different than years past. There is a limited amount of people allowed in the home at a time,” Coulombe explained. “When they arrive, they will be able to scan a QR code, it will add them to a virtual waitlist, and when it is their turn, they will receive a text message.”
