2022 New Years babies

AHS not announcing New Year’s babies for second straight year

Dec 30, 2021 | 11:20 AM

For the second year in a row, New Year’s babies will once again not be announced in 2022 because of COVID-related issues.

“Given the current restrictions in place at our healthcare facilities and ongoing health system challenges brought on by COVID-19, Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health will again not be identifying or announcing this year’s New Year’s babies,” AHS said in a statement.

New Year’s babies in 2021 were also not identified due to COVID-19 related issues.

AHS says their hope is to continue announcing New Year’s babies in 2023.

“While we understand that this is a traditional news event, it is simply not possible to invite media into our facilities at this time, or facilitate media interviews. In addition, our labour and delivery teams are extremely busy and priority must be given to patient care,” said AHS in a statement.
