Anson Norman, resident of Buffalo Lakes District, AB, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 90 years.
Anson was born on October 10, 1931, at his parent’s homestead in Buffalo Lakes and grew up on the family farm where he resided until his passing. He attended the country school of Canor, which was only three-quarters of a mile east from his home.
He worked off the farm during the winter months. His first job was at the Crummy Garage in Grande Prairie, AB. Anson went to work at bush camps for Grande Prairie Lumber Company and various camps. He spent many hours operating caterpillars for various companies. He enjoyed the work and different areas from Grande Prairie to Fort Nelson, BC.
In 1950, Anson purchased his first quarter of land. In 1970, he decided to stay on the farm year-round, have a herd of cattle, and settle into home life.
Anson was adventurous and decided to purchase an airplane and take lessons. He enjoyed this pastime and spent many hours in the sky.
Anson will be sadly missed by his wife Teodora; sister Vella (Larry) Anderson; nephews: Evan Anderson, David (Lee Ann) Anderson, Aaron (Teresa) Anderson, Jason (Kodi) Anderson; as well as their families: Mikayla, Teron, Keyana, Quintara, Jordan, Kale, Sydney, Peyton, Sawyer and Samantha.
Anson was predeceased by his first wife Pacita; parents Anna and Paul Norman; as well as sister Mona Norman.
A Viewing will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, at 12:00pm, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Sexsmith.
Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Interment to follow at the Webster Cemetery.
