The Grande Prairie Salvation Army has surpassed its annual Kettle Campaign fundraising goal.

The non-profit organization this year was able to fundraise $582,523 over the holiday season, $7,000 more than their original goal of $575,000.

The donations were made as follows:

  • Mailers – $280,685.96
  • Kettles – $205,442.32
  • TipTap – $36,050.00
  • Internet – $60,345.00

Money raised from the Kettle Campaign goes towards funding the food bank and helping feed those in need.

The Salvation Army in Grande Prairie says in 2020 they had 1,361 new families access the food banks service, and expects that number to rise throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The food bank currently serves over 6,500 individuals in Grande Prairie, 44 per cent of that number is children.
