Fairview Health Complex ED to close for 16-hour period Friday afternoon

Jan 14, 2022 | 2:06 PM

The Fairview Health Complex emergency department (ED) will be closed at 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon due to a lack of physician coverage.

This lack of coverage will last for 16 hours. Physician coverage in the ED will resume on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 7 a.m.

Nursing staff will remain on-site inside the ED to provide triage and assessments while referring patients to ED’s in surrounding communities as needed.

Anyone seeking emergency care is asked to call 911.

EMS calls will be re-routed to surrounding facilities, including the Grimshaw/Berwyn and District Community Health Centre, Central Peace Health Complex in Spirit River, and the Peace River Community Health Centre.

“Depending on their needs, patients seeking care at the emergency department in Fairview may also be made aware of services available through local pharmacies,” adds AHS.

“Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7, for non-emergency, health-related questions.”
