NHL announces new dates for 98 postponed games, 95 to take place in 16 days

NEW YORK – NHL players, fans, and reporters are going to be extremely busy.

The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in 98 games being postponed in the 2021-22 regular season.

Now, the league has announced that all NHL clubs will be able to complete their 82-game slates by the original regular-season closing date of Friday, April 29.

98 games that had been previously postponed between November 18, 2021, and January 18, 2022, now have new dates.

To accommodate those, 23 other games are being shuffled around.

During what was previously the Olympic Break from February 7-22 will instead play host to a whopping 95 NHL games.

Thursday, February 17 will see 10 games played.

“We are profoundly grateful to our fans for their support and understanding during a challenging time and to our Clubs, the NHL Players’ Association and the Players for their cooperation in a rescheduling of unprecedented logistical complexity,” said NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly.
