May 26, 1951 – January 20, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharon Lee Hudson on January 20 in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 70.
Sharon was born in Toronto, Ontario to Russell and Jocelyn Wright, and grew up in Actinolite. She was the second oldest of nine children (5 brothers and 3 sisters). Sharon moved to Bellville, Ontario at the age of 17 to start her career as a Certified Nurses Aid in a care facility for severely disabled children.
In late Autumn of 1970 at the age of 19, Sharon met the love of her life, Doug Hudson. Doug & Sharon were married on August 10, 1974, in Actinolite, Ontario surrounded by Family & Friends. In 1975, Sharon followed Doug to Alberta where they would start their family. They lived in Jasper briefly before finally settling in the Grande Prairie area. On June 23, 1976, their family grew by one more when Angelina Maria was born, followed closely by another beautiful baby girl; on October 6, 1977, Shawna Lynn made them a family of four.
In 1995, the family moved to a farm near Sexsmith where she fell in love with the country life, this was her comfort zone. Sharon loved each and every animal on that farm from pigs to chickens and especially her cows. That farm was where Sharon met another great love, the first of her six cherished grandchildren.
Sharon was a strong, independent woman that could tackle any task she set her mind to, a trait that she proudly passed along to her daughters. Her profound loss will be felt by Family, Friends & Caregivers alike.
Sharon is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, Douglas and her 2 beautiful daughters; Angelina and Shawna (Daylan), her grandchildren; Dylan (Amanda), Derek, Riley (Deanne), Alyssa, Kalli-Lynn, and Devon. Great Grandchildren; Aubrey, Daxton, Cohen, Jaxton, and Kolton.
Siblings; Judy, Ken (Dawn), Linda (Ray), Brian, Robert, Chris (Sherry), and Patricia. Brother-in-law Arnold Hudson (Donna) and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
Sharon was pre-deceased by her granddaughter Kaitlin Nicole, her brother Donald Wright, her parents Russell and Jocelyn Wright and her parents-in-law, Arnold and Eileena Hudson.
There will be a private memorial service to celebrate Sharon’s life at Bear Creek Funeral Home at a later date, by invitation only.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for all the years of care to the staff at Mackenzie Place, the U of A, and Edmonton General Hospitals. In lieu of flowers, the Family asks that donations be made in Sharon’s name to:
