Alberta Wheat Commission launches survey on drought impacts on grain contracts

Feb 1, 2022 | 5:54 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB. — After hearing how the 2021 drought impacted farmers ability to deliver on contracted grain commitments, the Alberta Wheat Commission launched a survey to delve the into financial ramification.

The survey is designed to capture details on the concerns being experienced by farmers, as a means to adequately record the financial impact of the drought.

Drought conditions are only one of many challenges farmers face. If you or someone you know is struggling or needs immediate help, call 1-866-332-2322 anytime to speak to someone, or text “home” to 686868 to text with a trained crisis responder.

As this survey asks questions about farm business finances, all responses will be kept anonymous and responses will be published in an amalgamated format. Any comments that are personal in nature may be published in an edited form, or the commissions may provide a generic comment that captures several different individual responses from the survey.

Your input is greatly appreciated and will help the commission with advocacy efforts.

Completed surveys will be eligible to enter in a draw to win two Yeti coffee mugs, along with other Alberta Wheat and Barley Commissions promotional items. Entry is at the end of the survey and completely voluntary. Personal information provided for the draw will not be published.
