Alberta unemployment rate lower in first month of 2022 while national jobless rate increases
Increases in the Alberta labour force, and the number of people employed in the province have led to a slight decrease in the provincial unemployment rate.
Alberta’s unemployment rate sat at 7.2 percent in January, compared to 7.5 percent to end 2021.
The Alberta labour force increased by 1,500 and employment in the province increased by 7,000 people when compared to December numbers.
The news was not as positive on the national front, as the jobless rate increased to 6.5 percent from 6.0 percent in December.
