County Snow removal

County residential snow removal continuing

Feb 22, 2022 | 3:36 PM

Residential snow removal is continuing in the County of Grande Prairie for the week of February 22.

Crews began clearing in the Hamlet of Hythe Tuesday morning, and will be moving into Clairmont from 116 Avenue to 100 Avenue Wednesday morning.

Parking restrictions will be in place between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Crews will then move onto the subdivisions of Whispering Ridge and Westlake in Clairmont, followed by Wedgewood, Taylor Estates and Maple Ridge, with progress depending on weather conditions and garbage collection days.

As crews make progress clearing in these residential areas and new temporary parking restrictions are put in place. The county reminds motorists to watch for the digital “No Parking” signs when entering select residential areas in the county.

“When the signs are lit, temporary parking restrictions are in place and street parking is not permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.,” county administration said in a release.

The county warns vehicles left on the street when a parking restriction is in place may be ticketed and/or towed. Residents are also reminded that piling snow onto roadways is illegal and could result in a $100 fine, as it slows the snow clearing process and creates a traffic safety hazard.

This residential snow removal process including temporary parking restrictions is in place in neighbourhoods with a concrete curb and gutter, and street parking.

Snow removal in rural areas, and other county subdivisions with ditches along the road like Carriage Land and Goldenrod Estates, are on a separate schedule.
