Natural gas shortages in Mackenzie County leads to alert

Dec 30, 2017 | 6:52 AM

The province’s Emergency Management Agency has issued an alert about natural gas outages affecting people living in Mackenzie County.

The extreme cold weather has disrupted the supply of gas to that area.

The agency is encouraging people who can’t heat their homes to stay with friends and family who have alternative heat sources.

Areas south of La Crete are reported to be already experiencing Natural Gas supply shortages.

A reception centre has also been set up at the La Crete Mennonite Heritage Centre.

Natural Gas supply trucks are being brought in to try and maintain gas line pressure in that area.

Information and updates are available on the Mackenzie County Facebook page.
