We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our mother and grandmother Irene Peebles (nee Anderson), on Friday, February 25, 2022, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 91 years.
Irene was born September 3, 1930, to George and Carrie Anderson in the Johanna Haakstad Home in Sexsmith, AB. Irene was the oldest of four children and she knew what it took to live in the country in the early years. When it was time for Mom to go to school, she attended the North Sexsmith School with a horse and a sleigh. On April 11, 1955, she married Ken Peebles at the United Church in Grande Prairie, AB.
Mom loved our family holidays especially the many trips to Prescott, Arizona to visit family. This is where her love of southwestern items such as cactus, pottery and turquoise originated from. Mom was very particular about making her yard look its best. Her unique taste was reflected in her yard.
Irene was loving and devoted to her family. Her kindness will always be forever in our hearts. Irene was not only our mom but also a beautiful friend.
She is survived by and deeply missed by her three children: Gordon (Barbara), Audrey (Piotr), and Dale (Lorilee); grandchildren: Brittney (Schalk) Venter, Breanna (Chad) Frank, Daulton Peebles, Ryder Peebles, and Willow Peebles; great-grandchildren: Jacoby, Olive, Cecilia, and Barrett; as well as many loving nieces and nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Irene was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Ken Peebles, parents George and Carrie Anderson, sister June Pakarnyk, and brothers Alvin Anderson and George Anderson.
At Mom’s request, a family-only Graveside Memorial will be held at the Grande Prairie Cemetery at a later date.
Mom always enjoyed her coffee outings so on your next coffee remember her. Take time to celebrate the good times you may have shared with our mom; she was beautiful and full of love. Rest easy Mom. We Love You.
