RCMP looking for suspect following property crime search in MD of Greenview

RCMP have laid charges and issued a warrant for the arrest of a woman following a property search warrant in the MD of Greenview. The search resulted in the recovery of firearms and stolen property.

On January 28, members of the Western Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit with the assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, Western Alberta District General Investigation Section, and the Valleyview Detachment executed a property crime search warrant at a residence east of Debolt.

During the search, RCMP say they recovered five stolen vehicles, a stolen industrial heater trailer, and two handguns.

Evidence recovered during the search also indicated to police that the property had been used for stripping industrial copper wire, which Mounties believe was stolen from oil and gas sites in the area.

RCMP have charged 28-year-old Leona Ellen McLean, with multiple property and firearm offenses. Police say McLean has not been located and arrest warrants have been issued.

McLean is described as 5’2″, 163 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

“The property recovered during this search was stolen from several different locations in the rural area surrounding Valleyview, as well as the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation over a period of several months,” says Sgt. Chris Power of the Rural Crime Unit.

“Our unit is committed to providing support to RCMP Detachments in their efforts to reduce crime in rural Alberta and bring those responsible before the courts.”
