Downtown Association hands out pair of awards

The Grande Prairie Downtown Association has handed out a pair of awards.

This year’s Art Ouellette award was presented to Station 97.

The Art Ouellette award is presented annually by the Downtown Associations Board of Directors, upon the recommendation by the Beautification Committee to a business owner who has made an outstanding contribution to downtown.

Some of these contributions made include outstanding attention to detail in the upkeep, display, maintenance, cleanliness, presentation and operation of their business — an attitude that reflects pride of property that is an inspiration to other property owners and operators — along with a commitment to a level of customer service that reflects favourably upon the entire downtown business area.

The 2021 Downtowner of the Year award was presented to Alex Houssain of Towne Centre Golf.

The Downtown of the Year award is presented to someone who is a forward thinker, risk-taker and has faith in the community and region.

Alec has been a part of our City Centre for many years and has a strong loyalty to what the heart of the city means to our community and region,” said Downtown Association Executive Director Wendy Bosch.
