The Grande Prairie Storm say in a news release that the club and Head Coach and General Manager Mike Vandekamp have “mutually agreed to part ways effective immediately.”
Vandekamp has spent the last two seasons with the Storm, his second stint in Grande Prairie. This past season, the Storm finished 22-30-8 with 52 points, last in the North Division.
The team goes on to say in that release that no other changes are planned to the hockey operations staff.
Business manager Ryan Carter and assistant coach Chris Schmidt will look after hockey operations in the meantime.
