Gas line rupture leads to brief evacuation in Sexsmith

Jan 14, 2018 | 7:39 AM

Ten homes in Sexsmith had to be evacuated Saturday after a natural gas line ruptured in the community.

It was detected around 3pm in an alley near 99th street and 101st avenue.

Crews from ATCO, along with assistance from the Sexsmith and Clairmont County fire departments were able to find the break and stop the leak.

After a quick check of homes in that area to ensure no further danger, residents were allowed to return to their homes at around 9:20 Saturday night.

No word yet on what caused the gas line to break.
