Mar 14, 2022 | 8:30 AM

The County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings have wrestled home-ice advantage away from the Fort St. John Huskies in the NWJHL final.

Blake Gillingham scored twice as the Kings beat the Huskies 5-1 in Fort St. John on Sunday, to take a 2-1 series lead in the league final.

Landen Gourlie, Carter Berg, and Alex Beardmore also scored for the Kings, who led 1-0 and 3-0 at the intermission breaks.

Nathan Brownlee scored for the huskies with 2:29 left in the third period to break Cam Beson’s shutout bid.

Beson, who made 35 saves in blanking the Huskies 2-0 in game two on Friday night, has a 1.33 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage over the first three games of the series.

Game four is set for Tuesday night at 8 pm at Crosslink County Sportsplex in Clairmont.
