Girouxville man charged with second-degree murder following investigation

A 33-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder following a house fire in Girouxville earlier this month.

On March 15, McLennan RCMP officers were dispatched to a complaint of a house fire in Girouxville.

Police say human remains were located once the Fire Department had extinguished the blaze.

Alberta Major Crimes were called and took care of the investigation. As a result, a 33-year-old man from Girouxville has been charged with second-degree murder. The man’s name was not released to the public.

He is scheduled to appear in Peace River provincial court on Monday, March 21, 2022.

An autopsy has been scheduled for March 22 at 9 a.m.
