EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA

Registration open for Easter Eggstravaganza on April 16

Registration for the City of Grande Prairie’s 19th annual Easter Eggstravaganza is open.

Festivities are set to take place on April 16 at the Heritage Village.

Hayley Kramps, recreation, programming, and events supervisor for Grande Prairie says the event will feel closer to pre-pandemic times.

“We are still going to have the easter egg hunt and photoshoot with the bunny, but we are going to have an indoor component this year,” she explained.

She says the indoor component will include a variety of activities.

“Children can decorate cookies, they can play with an easter egg bunny toss, and they will have a few different crafts to do as well, so it will be a little bit of a longer event, and it will have more variety so that every age will have something to do.”

Activities are geared toward children aged 2-10, however, Kramps notes anyone is welcome to sign up for the event.

“If you are outside those ages, we welcome you as well,” These activities are geared towards children aged 2 to 10 but they are things other children might find enjoyable, such as the cookie decorating.”

The event will take place on April 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in 30-minute time slots. Kramps says they have added time slots this year for people who may benefit from a quieter or calmer environment.

“If anyone is interested in that timeslot, give the Citizen Centre a call at 311.”

The cost of the event is $5 per child, and free for adults.

In addition, the annual Easter colouring contest is taking place until the end of the day on April 16.

The city says all children aged 2 to 10 can submit a completed colouring page, even if they don’t attend the Eggstravaganza event.

Kramps says the colouring page can be found on the city’s website or by hopping over to the Ernie Radbourne Pavillion in Muskoseepi Park.

“Winners are chosen by a random selection, and this year’s prizes have not yet been released, but they will be winning a prize based on their age category.”

Finished colouring pages can be submitted through email programmingofGP@cityofGP.com or in person at the Ernie Radbourne Pavillion.

Registration, full contest details, colouring sheets, and prize information are available at cityofgp.com/events.
