Team Brad Gushue adds E.J. Harnden at second to replace Brett Gallant

May 11, 2022 | 1:13 PM

Team Brad Gushue has filled the vacancy created by Brett Gallant’s departure by adding E.J. Harnden at second.

Gushue, third Mark Nichols, Gallant and lead Geoff Walker earned bronze at the Beijing Games and won a national title last winter.

Gallant recently announced he would be leaving the team to play with a new rink skipped by Brendan Bottcher.

Harnden, meanwhile, served as an alternate for Gushue at last month’s world championship and helped the St. John’s-based team take silver.

Harnden won Olympic gold with Team Brad Jacobs at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Jacobs is taking next season off and his teammates all joined new squads.

Gushue added that Walker, who’s currently based in Edmonton, will be a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador again to satisfy Curling Canada’s residency rule requirements.
