Alberta RCMP advising water safety over the long weekend

Alberta RCMP wants to remind Albertans to be safe on or in the water this summer.

Mounties recommend:

Considering communication with cell phone coverage possibly being limited in open water.
Dressing for the occasion, using life jackets, bringing sunscreen on hot days and extra layers on cooler evenings.
Sharing your plans with others.
Knowing your own limits, with many drownings being a result of fatigue, with a swimmer going too far offshore.
Always check forecasts before entering the water to ensure a safe and fun summer.

RCMP would also like to remind residents intoxication while operating a boat is illegal and punishable under the Criminal Code.
