Wildfire hazard high in GPFA, moderate in PRFA
The wildfire hazard in the Grande Prairie Forest Area is now rated high, with fire watchers expecting the hazard to rise with the warm weather in the forecast.
Lightning started five fires over the weekend.
There are two active wildfires in the Grande Prairie Forest Area. One is under control and has burned 76 hectares. The other is being held and has burned half a hectare. There are 13 firefighters, a water truck, and a helicopter working on this blaze.
Since March 1. the Grande Prairie Forest Area has had 42 fires that have burned close to 95 hectares.
