County joins City in bid for 2022 Arctic Games

The County is on board with the City to submit a bid to host the 2022 Arctic Winter Games.

County Administrator Bill Rogan says they’ve accepted the City’s invitation to join them with the bid and they’ll be submitting an application to the province.

“It’s limited to the number of communities in Alberta that can apply because it’s the Arctic Games and it’s only northern cities really that are asked,” said Rogan.  “That bid will go forward and the host committee or those that make the choice will review it.”

He says the County and City hosted the 2010 games and if they were successful again this would be another opportunity to showcase local athletes, the community and the games could have a positive economic impact.
