AHS hosting community celebration at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital

Alberta Health Services will be hosting a community celebration in Grande Prairie on Saturday, August 27, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital

This event is meant to recognize all the work and effort put in by staff, partners, healthcare workers, and the communities that support them.

Health Minister Jason Copping said in a news release; “We are incredibly grateful for the dedication of the many hardworking healthcare staff, physicians, and volunteers who have brought this new facility to life.”

From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the parking lot west of the Emergency Department, AHS will be having a free barbeque, a variety of cultural performances, and information displays.

Guided tours of the new facility will also be offered, however, visitors will have to wear a mask and sanitize to protect vulnerable patients.

Candice Edey, AHS Senior Operating Officer for Grande Prairie said in a news release ‘”This facility truly belongs to the people of the region,” with the new hospital already delivering 1,050 babies and serving more the 34,000 patients.
