The City of Grande Prairie will begin a road rehabilitation project starting on Sunday, September 4.

It’s a part of the city’s $11-million they budgeted this year, for upgrades on roads around Grande Prairie.

On 116 Street from 97 Avenue to 84 Avenue, crews will be bringing the road up to current construction standards, as well as preparing the roadway for a higher volume of truck traffic and future increased traffic volumes.

Northbound traffic on 116 Street will be reduced to a single lane and the speed limit will be reduced to 30km/h.

The City of Grande Prairie asks drivers to watch for flag people and anticipate potential traffic delays.

Businesses along 116 Street are expected to still be accessible while work is underway.
