Motorcyclist dies after collision with bear near Grande Cache

A 57-year-old Whitecourt man is dead after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a bear Sunday afternoon on Highway 40 north of Grande Cache.

RCMP believe the bike was heading southbound when the bear entered its path.

The rider was taken to hospital with serious injuries and later died.

His name is not being released.

The bear was also severely injured and did not survive the incident.
