Long list of northwestern Alberta communities among 50 to get funding for broadband projects
The province says the provincial and federal governments are putting $70.6 million into broadband projects in more than 50 communities, nearly half of them in northwestern Alberta.
A release from the province says this will help connect 10,400 homes across the province.
The funding is the first announced under the new Universal Broadband Fund.
The province has set aside $390 million over four years to bring high-speed internet to rural, remote, and Indigenous communities. The federal government has committed a similar amount.
