Operation Impact enforcement set for this weekend on Alberta highways

RCMP across the province will be carrying out their Operation Impact enforcement this long weekend, looking out for impaired drivers and other unsafe driving practices.

Besides driving sober, Mounties are also reminding motorists to always wear their seat belt, to never drive while tired or drowsy, and to always keep your hands on the wheel and off your cell phone or other devices.

They add if you do need to use your phone for a call or a text, that you need to pull over to the side of the road and put your vehicle in park before using it.

Last year, there were 53 motor vehicle collisions in Alberta during the Thanksgiving long weekend, resulting in 5 deaths and 74 injuries.
