The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has concluded its investigation into a Grande Prairie RCMP Officer.

Constable Damien Lessard-Jomphe has been charged with dangerous operations of a conveyance causing bodily harm.

On April 24th, 2021, ASIRT was directed to investigate the circumstances around serious injuries sustained during a collision with an RCMP vehicle and a 28-year-old cyclist in Grande Prairie.

Alberta RCMP say in a separate release that police were called out to a report of two people on bicycles towing a safe. One of those people was the person struck by the police vehicle.

Lessard-Jomphe will make his first appearance in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on November 30th. Alberta RCMP say he has been a Mountie for five years and will remain on active duty.
