Fire Advisory

Wildfire danger in the Grande Prairie Forest Area is very high

Oct 21, 2022 | 8:42 AM

The wildfire danger in the Grande Prairie Forest Area is currently very high and has led to a fire advisory.

Also, wildfire smoke from fires in BC, Northwest Territories, and northern Alberta will also continue to drift into GP for the coming days.

Under the fire advisory, all burning except campfires is prohibited and a valid fire permit is required to burn.

Backyard fire pits, safe wood campfires, portable propane fire pits, gas or propane stoves, and catalytic or infrared-style heaters are allowed.

Alberta Forestry and Agriculture would like to remind residents to never leave a campfire unattended, and use the soak, stir and soak again method, as 79 wildfires have burned 105 hectares of Grande Prairie Forest Area since the start of this year.
