City Snow Removal Crews available for priority roads

Oct 25, 2022 | 3:11 PM

Grande Prairie Snow Removal crews will begin transitioning into winter operations, however, crews are ready to plow any priority road in response to heavy snowfall.

Crews will be fully operational by November 6.

The City will be doing snow removal in three different ways this year, the first being priority road clearings, which include sanding and ice control to ensure safety for emergency vehicles and transit buses.

The second is residential clearing which will take place on a two-week rotation and include plowing and ice control. When snow accumulates or there is significant snowfall, finally rural service area clearing, with crews clearing up to 40 km of rural service area roads as needed.

Residential snow removal will feature some changes this year with a new neighborhood plowing system, breaking up each neighborhood into week A or week B.

Residential snow clearing will still occur on a two-week rotation, and snow removal days assigned to neighborhoods will stay the same.

Residents can sign up for daily snow removal updates and reminders on the city’s website by clicking here.

If you have questions about snow removal that you would like to ask the City directly, they can be sent to AccessGP at 311 or by emailing info@cityofgp.com.
