Duo charged after Friday night incident in the County

Two people have been arrested after an alleged break-and-enter in the County of Grande Prairie on Friday night.

Grande Prairie Rural RCMP received a call at around 10:30 p.m. of a reported break-and-enter in the area of Range Road 62 and Township Road 731.

The caller said the suspects shot a firearm as they were leaving the scene.

RCMP from both the City and rural detachments, as well as the Spirit River detachment eventually tracked down two suspects in a stolen vehicle, seizing a rifle and bear spray in the process.

33-year-old Darcy Beckman of Saddle Hills County and 30-year-old Colton Beckman of Grande Prairie each face a total of nine charges, including:

  • Break and enter
  • Flight from police
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Discharge of a firearm
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Resist arrest
  • Fail to comply with release order x3

Both are being held in custody and are due in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on November 16, 2022.
