Eastlink Centre celebrates final month of 10-year anniversary

The City of Grande Prairie is wrapping up the ten year anniversary of the Eastlink Centre with a month full of events starting on November 12.

Mayor Jackie Clayton said in a news release, “The Eastlink Centre is a pillar of recreation and sport in our community, and we look forward to providing many more years of inclusive and affordable recreation options for residents at the facility.”

All month long different activities will take place, all leading up to “One More Night, A Celebration of the Eastlink Centre”, taking place on Sunday, December 11.

The different activities taking place throughout the month are:

  • “Just Can’t Get Enough” Free Fitness Class Mondays:
    • Free drop-in, instructor-led dryland and aquatic fitness classes all day long
  • “Rolling in the Deep” Discounted Swim Wednesdays:
    • $2 public swim admission per person
  • “T.G.I.F” BOGO Admission Fridays:
    • When non-members purchase one admission, get a second person’s admission for free.
    • When Eastlink Centre members bring a non-member friend, the friend gets free admission, and the member is entered to win an Apple Watch.
  • Sport and Wellness Showcase
    • November 12
    • 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    • Open to the public
    • A showcase of the different user groups, clubs, and membership options available at the Community Knowledge Campus.
  • Seniors Snack & Chat
    • November 14
    • 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

With the Eastlink Centre first opening its doors in 2011, each special day is named after a top-hit song from 2011.

All these events will lead up to the big event on the last day of the one year anniversary, “One More Night, A Celebration of the Eastlink Centre”‘, which will feature a list of different free activities.

Activities are:

  • Bouncy castles and games in the fieldhouse
  • Fitness class showcase in the fieldhouse
  • Drop-in public swimming (in two-hour time slots)
  • Public skating with free rentals
  • Facility tours
  • Scavenger hunt
  • Special membership pricing
  • Cupcake showdown featuring special guests

In order to partake in facility tours, residents must pre-register online by clicking here, all other activities are first come, first serve.

Visitors can also bring a food donation to the CKC guest services over the course of the month and will be entered to win a six-month Eastlink Centre Membership.
