Traffic stop leads to the arrest of two drug-traffickers

On December 6, officers from the RCMP Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit and the Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit pulled over a vehicle with what police allege were known repeat offenders inside.

Once police began speaking with the occupants they noticed drug residue, among other things, that led them to arrest the individuals and search the vehicle.

Their search turned up, 54 grams of meth, 168 grams of cocaine, five grams of fentanyl, and some prescription drugs.

RCMP charged a 37-year-old resident of Grande Prairie, Brennan Robert Wishart, with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime.

He was remanded into police custody and was due in court Wednesday, December 6.

RCMP has also charged a 27-year-old resident of Grande Prairie, Mykayla Elizabeth Nelson, with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance.

She was released from police custody and is expected to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial court on December 12.
