Statistics Canada unemployment rate
Jan 6, 2023 | 5:29 PM
Statistics Canada says the national economy added more than 100,000 jobs in December, bringing the unemployment rate down to 5.0 per cent.
That’s close to the record-low of 4.9 per cent reached in June and July of last year.
The federal agency says the rise in employment was driven by an increase in full-time work.
Closer to home, the economic region that includes Grande Prairie and the Peace region also saw its jobless rate drop in December, moving to 5.2 per cent from 5.6 in November.
