Eastlink Centre is bringing back the Junior Lifeguard Club after positive feedback

Jan 8, 2023 | 6:00 AM

The City is returning a well-received program to the Eastlink Centre starting at the end of this month.

The Junior Lifeguard club was introduced in the fall and is being brought back due to the public’s reaction.

It is designed as a fun and unique way for kids ages 8 to 15, who are interested in being a lifeguard, to have the opportunity to learn a mixed bag of life and swimming skills.

This multi-week program starts January 28 and runs every Saturday until April, 1. There are two time slots a day, 12 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.

It also gives kids the opportunity to challenge their Bronze Star, (if under 12) or Bronze Medallion, (if over 13), for an additional $100.

Registration for this club is $20, and you can register your child by clicking here.

If your child is passionate about swimming, interested in becoming a lifeguard, or is just looking for physical activity, the city and the Eastlink Centre are offering a Rookie Day event.

The event is free to attend and for kids who are interested but are unsure about the commitment.

Rookie Day is taking place on January 14, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Eastlink pool

The City recommends signing up your child soon if they are interested as there are limited spots available, to pre-register for Rookie Day, click here.
