Western Alberta District Crime Unit arrest leads to 76 charges

An attempt to locate and arrest two individuals wanted on outstanding warrants led Mounties to arrest four individuals and seize a number of illegal items.

On January, 23, the Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, with support from RCMP Dog Services and the Valleyview detachment, visited a residence in Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation looking for two people.

On arrival, RCMP noticed four people outside the residence, interacting with a vehicle in the driveway. RCMP reported it had two loaded sawed-off shotguns inside.

All four were arrested and police obtained warrants to search all vehicles and the home.

The search turned up a number of illegal items:

  • Rifles (x2)
  • A sawed-off rifle
  • Sawed-off shotguns (x2)
  • Airsoft guns (x2)
  • Crossbows (x2)
  • Ammunition
  • Approximately 22 grams of suspected Methamphetamine
  • Approximately 2.5 grams of suspected Cocaine
  • Body armor
  • Nun chucks

Four people were all remanded into custody and received a combined total of 76 charges:

Winona Kristen Lynn Gouchey (35), a resident of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a weapon contrary to order (x14)
  • Weapons offenses (x12)
  • Obstruction
  • Possession of a controlled substance (x2)

Jordana Ray-Lynn Goodswimmer (22), a resident of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, has been charged with:

  • Weapons offenses (x8)
  • Fail to attend court (x4)

Dorian Anakian Harvey (25), a resident of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, has been charged with:

  • Weapons offenses (x8)
  • Possession of a weapon contrary to order (x8)

Gouchey, Goodswimmer, and Harvey are all due in Grande Prairie Provincial Court January 25.

Brandon Lee Munroe (33), a resident of Valleyview, has been charged with:

  • Weapons offenses (x8)
  • Possession of a controlled substance (x2)
  • Possession of a weapon contrary to order (x8)
  • Fail to appear

Munroe is set to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court February 2.
