AHS services being restored after network outage

Alberta Health Services says a network outage has been fixed and services are coming back.

That includes Health Link 811, Connect Care and electronic medical records, and community and hospital lab services.

AHS says it is contacting and will re-book any patients impacted by the outage, adding urgent and emergency surgeries continued Monday.

AHS adds in a news release that a third party will review what happened.

“It is imperative that we understand what happened today so that it does not happen again. I would like to thank Albertans for their patience, as well as the teams involved in getting our systems back up and running,” says AHS official administrator John Cowell in that same release.

AHS goes on to say the third-party review will look at the cause of the outage and any improvements that would prevent something like this from happening again. There is no indication that this was done by hackers or was a cyber-attack.
