Free drop-in times begin this week at Smith Activity Centre

A decision during the city’s most recent budget deliberations to add more free drop-in opportunities at the Smith Activity and Reception Centre will finally start to take shape this week.

Beginning Tuesday, February 14th, free drop-in opportunities will be offered during youth drop-in time every Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6 pm.

Free drop-in times will also be offered Wednesdays from 9-11:30 am during toddler drop-ins, and Saturdays from 1-3 during community drop ins.

In a release, Mayor Jackie Clayton says the decision to offer free drop-in times was made to help minimize financial barriers and provide more opportunities for active lifestyles.

The city also wants to remind residents that their Recreation Access Program is also still available, which offers a 75 per cent subsidy to successful applicants on memberships, passes and registered programs at the Eastlink Centre, Grande Prairie Museum, Muskoseepi Park, Dave Barr Community Centre, Design Works Centre, and the Smith Activity and Reception Centre.
