Snowmobile safety patrols catches impaired drivers, other provincial offences

Grande Prairie Rural RCMP recently combined forces with MD of Greenview Enforcement Services and conservation officers to conduct snowmobile compliance checks last weekend South of Grande Prairie in the Kakwa area.

Around 170 snowmobile operators were checked, with 33 provincial violation tickets issued.

An additional three drivers were given Immediate Roadside Sanctions and taken off the trail systems after failing mandatory alcohol screening.

Mounties remind all riders to check weather conditions before you leave, as well as letting someone know your route, destination, and return time.

They also suggest riding in groups, carrying a cell phone, and packing additional food, water, and fire-making equipment.
