County Wheat Kings to honour Doug Edey in semi-final opener with Sexsmith

If you are a hockey fan in Grande Prairie, chances are you know and have likely even met Doug Edey.

Doug has been a supporter of all levels of hockey in the area, from minor hockey right up to the Grande Prairie Athletics senior team.

He has also been a key volunteer with the County Wheat Kings Junior B team; volunteering in a number of areas from selling 50/50 tickets, filling water bottles, to even working the penalty box on the odd occasion.

On Friday night, the Wheat Kings will recognize Doug with an evening in his honour, as they host Sexsmith in game one of their NWJHL semi final.

The team will honour him for his years of volunteer work by presenting him with a jersey, and having him perform the ceremonial faceoff prior to the game.

Puck drop is set for 8:00 p.m. at Crosslink County Sportsplex.
