Mar 9, 2023 | 2:27 PM

The province says $54 million is going into 17 projects meant to create 600 new affordable housing units across Alberta.

There is one project in the Peace Country on the list.

There is $1.2 million going to Heart River Housing to build seniors apartments in Falher.

Heart River Housing operates in 11 municipalities in the Peace. It currently supports 900 people in 470 units, according to its website.

The province says in a release that it’s Stronger Foundation 10-year strategy will support 25,000 more housing units.

This is the first round of funding given out under the Affordable Housing Partnership Program announced in December, which is funded by the National Housing Strategy, paid for by the federal and provincial governments.
