Province to provide grants upwards of $10K for Alberta Culture Days

Mar 9, 2023 | 5:29 PM

EDMONTON, AB – Applications for Alberta Culture Days are now open.

Every September, the province provides funding for community organizations looking to host free public events that highlight cultural programming and showcase local talent in Alberta.

In order to offset the costs to host these events, the Government of Alberta offers grants of up to $10,000 to help eligible organizations.

Alberta Minister of Culture, Jason Luan said, “It’s a great pleasure to announce that grant applications for Alberta Culture Days are officially open. Each September, Alberta celebrates talent, community spirit and our diverse cultures. I encourage all community organizations to apply for a grant to help host their event during this month-long celebration.”

Organizations can qualify for grants in three different categories prior to the application deadline of March 17, 2023:

  • Feature celebration sites, which offer at least three days of programming in September and are eligible for grants of up to $10,000.
  • Host celebration sites, which offer at least two days of programming in September and are eligible for grants of up to $5,000.
  • Pop-up celebration sites, which offer at least one day of programming in September and are eligible for grants of up to $1,000.

In 2022, Culture Days across the country attracted more than 3.8 million attendees and featured over 3,000 free events in more than 500 communities across the country.

Alberta Culture Days will run from September 1 to 30, 2023.
