Extreme cold warning in place

Environment Canada says an Extreme Cold Warning is in place for the Grande Prairie region.

According to the weather agency, another surge of cold arctic air into the province will maintain extreme cold conditions until Saturday.

Wind chills are expected in the minus 30’s today and near minus 40 tonight.

Tomorrow the temperature is expected to hold steady at minus 32 with an extreme wind chill of minus 43.

Saturday’s expected High without wind chill is minus 33.

The frigid cold can cause frostbite on exposed skin within minutes.

Environment Canada reminds us if it’s too cold for people to stay outside, it’s too cold for pets to stay outside as well.
