Peace residents encouraged to celebrate National Volunteer Week

April 16-22 is National Volunteer Week.

The Grande Prairie Regional Association of Volunteer Organizations is offering assistance to local non-profits and businesses wanting to celebrate the many volunteers within our region.

Businesses are encouraged to do things such as hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Day or deliver coffee and treats to a local non-profit group.

Local agencies can pick up a Celebration Package from the GPRAVO office on 100 Avenue, which will give them several ideas as to how they can recognize their volunteers.

Non-profit groups are also encouraged to nominate their volunteer board members for the Tim Horton’s Volunteer of the Week.

Last year, a total of 59 board members were recognized over the course of National Volunteer Week.

In all cases, anyone planning an event is encouraged to promote their activities on social media and to tag @VolunteerGP and use the hashtag #NVW2023 in their post.
